As far as the newest crop of television sets released recently goes, the Panasonic Viera TX-L32V10 appears to be receiving mostly positive, but a few negative reviews. This comes as a bit of a surprise when one considers that this is an entry level model of full HD capable sets. If one takes a realistic look at the features and specifications for this set, one realises quickly that it is an excellent value for the price.
The TX-L32V10 comes with a full 37 inch diagonal measurement viewing screen. It is also capable of accurately rendering 1080p HD video input, making it excellent for viewing Blu Ray Hi Def content and content from a PS3.
While this TX-L32V10 set does not include the new 100 hz processor being seen on so many of the higher end models, it actually suffers from less motion lag than many sets that do have the faster processor. This is a true advantage for serious gamers.
Some complain that the onscreen menu does not allow for manual setting of the colour reproduction the way some other sets from other manufacturers do. While this may be important to tech savvy professional, the average viewer buying the TX-L32V10 to watch at home will not be likely to notice or care.
The TX-L32V10 does boast a full 50,000:1 contrast ratio, meaning that the pictures produced are the sharpest available anywhere. In HD mode, this set more than does justice to any content one wishes to throw at it. One can almost see the threads in the clothing worn by characters in close up shots if one wishes.
Sound reproduction on the TX-L32V10 leaves a little to be desired. This is, however, perfectly acceptable in an entry level model. Improving the sound is as simple as adding a home theatre sound system or a surround sound system using the standard RCA output jacks built into the unit.
Inputs include HDMI, SCART, PC, S Video, and Composite. The Panasonic TX-L32V10 also includes an SD input slot for playing content back from an external device, such as content downloaded from the web to a computer.
Consistent with all of its sets in the S10 series, Panasonic has included IPS Alpha panel construction in the TX-L32V10 LCD screen. This helps to hold the images together and make the picture appear sharper, even from extremely wide angles. One does not even get the bleaching effect that is common with many LCD televisions with this model, even at extremely wide angles.
All in all, if one is in the market for an entry level 37 inch viewable television set, one could do far worse than buy a Panasonic Viera TX-L32V10. For the price, it is an exceptionally good value TV that performs far and away better than most other comparably priced sets. Any shortcomings one might spot are not really shortcomings when considers realistically that this is an entry level set. Those who wish for more options to calibrate the colours themselves or faster processing speeds will simply have to look at a more expensive set. This does quite well for what it is intended, better than most.
